Theodore Merwitz Textiles has been defined by the French term, passementerie, a term that encompasses all trimmings such as braids, cords, fringes and tassels. Merwitz is a family-owned business that has been making custom trimmings for the decorating trade since 1928. The factory has been in its present location in the River North district of Chicago since 1969. Having years of experience, Merwitz turns out elegant, one-of-a-kind trimmings from the very beginning stages using high quality yarns, old-world looms and hand-tying techniques. The trims from Merwitz put design professionals in the highest class of decorating renown. Exclusive Trims All Merwitz trims are made-to-order according to designers' specifications. All of the exquisite work is made by hand and color matched using a unique method of spoon dying on site. Tassel work is meticulously hand-tied from spun rayon, wool, cotton and silks onto trims woven on the looms. Turn-around time is four to six weeks. Merwitz is known for its prompt delivery and if a job can't be done in the time required, it won't be accepted. For the Trade |
